ExactMaterials provides free estimating tools and written guides for home improvement projects. Everything on the site is general information. It is not professional advice, it is not an engineering calculation, and it is not a substitute for a licensed contractor, an architect or a building inspector.
3. Accuracy and limits of the estimates
Our calculators apply standard industry formulas and published coverage figures. Real material needs are affected by substrate condition, out-of-square walls, layout decisions made on site, product batch variation and manufacturer tolerances. Prices are US national averages and change constantly.
You must verify every quantity against the product's stated coverage and against your own measurements before purchasing. We accept no liability for material shortfalls, over-ordering, project delays, cost overruns or any other loss arising from reliance on an estimate produced by this site.
4. Building codes
Nothing on this site should be read as confirming compliance with any building code. Requirements vary by state, county and municipality. Check with your local building department before starting work that requires a permit.
5. Acceptable use
You may use the tools freely for personal and commercial estimating. You may not: scrape the site at a rate that degrades service for others; copy our written guides or calculator logic to republish elsewhere; frame the site or present it as your own; or attempt to interfere with the site's operation.

The text, design, calculator logic and generated plans on this site are the property of Liviu Iulian Taune, except where third-party material is identified. You may print or save a plan you generate for your own project use. Republishing our written content requires written permission.
